Also known as multi-infarct dementia, Vascular Dementia is the second most common type of dementia. It is a result of problems associated with blood vessels that carry oxygen and nutrients to the brain. Blockage of blood flow to the brain can result in a stroke, causing damage (multiple infarctions) to various areas that impair cognitive functioning.
