Narcolepsy is a sleep disorder, characterized by sudden and incontrollable episodes of falling asleep at inappropriate times and/or in appropriate places, only to be repeated again and again. The deep sleep that does occur, as well as its inception, is involuntary and cannot be suppressed by the patient. Narcolepsy can prove disabling and may include hallucinations and/or brief episodes of paralysis.
