Definition

 

Catatonia is a psychomotor disorder in which the individual’s movements may be severely curtailed to the point of immobility (called Stuporous Catatonia) or excited agitation, consisting of uncontrollable behavior in both verbal and motor areas (known as Agitated Catatonia).
