Adjustment Disorders result in emotional and/or behavioral symptoms in response to an identified stressor.  The symptoms are present within 3 months of the initiation of the stressor.  There must be functional impairment and/or clinically significant distress, symptoms cannot be a function of bereavement, symptoms cannot last longer than 6 months.


Adjustment Disorders include various subtypes that include:

  • Depressed Mood
  • Anxiety
  • Mixed Anxiety and Depressed Mood
  • Disturbance of Conduct
  • Mixed Disturbance of Emotions and Conduct
  • Unspecified
